“Peace be with you”

The disciples see the risen Lord and feed the hungry Christ fish

I am going to send you what my Father has promised: but stay in the city until you have been clothed you with power from on high

Jesus returns to heaven blessing as he goes. But the story does not end here…

Luke 24 v 13-35

Jerusalem 2 Emmaus they went
Angry and broken they felt
A man came along who told them they’d got it all wrong
Then there was joy in the breaking of bread

Luke 24 v 1-12

LK 24 Early one a.m. women head 2 the tomb 2 prep JC’s body. Scared by 2 men gleaming they R told “He is not here he is risen”.

Rush 2 tell disciples but they thought they were spouting nonsense till Peter goes 2 check & sees only strips of linen.  What has happened?

He is Risen!

Luke 23 v 50-56

JC’s body is given to a man waiting for the kingdom.

Placed in a tomb carved from rock, the darkest, most hopeless Sabbath comes.

‘THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS’

placed between 2 criminals Jesus is crucified

Even on the cross Jesus has compassion on those around him as he welcomes his latest neighbour into the kingdom

Darkness comes,

the curtain is torn in two

“Father into your hands I commit my spirit”

Jesus is dead

Jesus passed between Chief priests, Pilate, Herod.  “Who are you? What have you done?” No charge confirmed, not convicted but not set free

Jesus vs Barabbas.  Barabbas set free, Jesus – ‘Crucify him! Crucify him!’

Luke 22 v 39-65

JC prays earnestly for other way-so much he sweats blood-but he will follow Father’s way whatever cost. Disciples sleep through it all

A kiss from Judas gives the game away. JC arrested. Peter cuts servants ear trying to defend JC.  “No more of this” JC shouts & heals ear.

Peter loses his bottle and denies Jesus 3 times.  I do not know him, I do not know him, I do not know him. He weeps as the cock crows
